The Department of Civil, Environmetal and Architectural Engineering (ICEA) covers expertise in the area of construction engineering and architecture, hydraulics and maritime engineering, environmental engineering, and transport systems and economics. Founded in the early 17th century, the Department flourished and developed throughout the 19th and 20th centuries until the present day.
ICEA research focuses on technologies and design methods to make the natural and built environment sustainable, safe, responsive to the socio-economic challenges that territories and cities face today, and resilient to climate change effects.
ICEA is among the 180 Departments selected at national level by ANVUR (Italian National Agency for the eValuation of Universities and Research institutes) as University Department of Excellence for the period 2023-2027.

The Department was founded in 1990 and it soon became a leading center in the higher education of business and economic sciences. Since 2012 the Department of Economics and Management of Padova has ranked among the best Economics and Management degree in Italy by the famous Italian Research Institute – Censis. The Department is one of the 150 best departments in the world in Economics and Econometrics according to the QS World University Rankings.

The Department hosts researchers working on six fields of law: constitutional law, administrative law, civil procedures, criminal law and procedure, tax law, and international and European law.
